NewsWatch Newspaper exclusively reports that Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray will appear in the High Court tomorrow, Tuesday 18th August 2020, to face 8 courts for sexual penetration charges of a child under 18 years.
On Monday 17 August 2020, the Law Officers’ Department indicted Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and Marion Arouni on eight counts related to conspiracy and sexual penetration of a child contrary to the Sexual Offences Act of 2012 as repealed and replaced with Section 4(a)(iii) of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act of 2019, Act No.8 of 2019.
The Sierra Leone Police allege Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and an accomplice, Marion Arouni, conspired together resulting in sexual penetration between the Alliance Democratic Party leader, Mansaray, and a girl under 18-years.
The charges include allegations of crimes committed in Kono and Freetown in February and March 2020. Arouni is also charged with aiding and abetting Mansaray in committing sexual penetration of a child.
The Indictment, signed by the newly appointed Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Anthony Brewah, appears to be the first major indictment by the incoming legal advisor to the Government.
Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray will appear in the High Court on Tuesday 18 August 2020 in Freetown after being detained for a month at the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) on Pademba Road, Freetown.
