Old Edwardians defeated Freetown City Football Club (FCFC) by two goals to nil in a well contested match at the Siaka Stevens Stadium on Thursday evening.
The “Old School Boys” are presently on a blistering run of form with four wins in their last five matches.
Two goals from Bangali Koroma and Ernest Harleston either side of halftime gave Edwardians all three points and moved them to 5th position on the log with 20-points.
Old Edwardians are equal on points with league leaders East End Tigers, second place FC Kallon, Kamboi Eagles in third place and fourth position East End Lions respectively.
“It’s a very good result for as we keep on improving everyday”, Edwardians Coach Prince Okpuku said during the post match conference.
Prince said he’s impressed with the current form of the team which has made them transformed from early season strugglers to eventual title contenders.
“We’ll continue with our philosophy and concentrate on the next opponent, as it’s one game at a time”, he continued.
Assistant coach of Freetown City FC, Hassan Bangura, bemoans his side’s defeat to Old Edwardians and their current poor run of form in the league.
He however expressed optimism of the team getting back to its best in its remaining matches in the first leg of the league.
