The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has expunged over 9,000 public sector workers from the public work bill after it conducted a nationwide workers verification exercise.
Speaking to Newsmen at the Ministry of Finance building in Freetown, the Coordinator of the NCRA, Mr. Mohamed Mobashil Massaqoui said that this in response to the desire of President Bio in controlling wastage in the public finance management of the country.
He maintained that he will stand by those numbers he has put forward as illegitimate and will challenge any one that comes forward with a contrary view.
The Minister of Finance Jacob Jusu Saffa said that he was very happy with the report of the NCRA and said they are following the campaign pledge made by President Julius Maada Bio during the electioneering period.
He added that this move came about after his visit to Washington, where matters relating to reduction of the pay roll came up, adding that upon returning to Sierra Leone the issue was taken up with the utmost urgency it deserves
