“The Minister of Youth Affairs with support from UNDP Sierra Leone has taken a team of five to the Youth Connect Africa Summit in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday, 6th October, 2018.”
This is according to the Media Team of the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
The Team informed this medium that the thrust of the Summit is to create a participatory forum of communication where young leaders across Africa would innovative ideas on development within the continent, adding that a total of 2500 delegates from Africa would be in attendance. Source from the Ministry`s Media Team also said that the delegates of the summit comprises policy makers, development partners, youth innovators and entrepreneurs; among other professionals, and added that Youth Ministers from different countries across Africa will discuss issues surrounded around youth empowerment as the continent’s priorities to tap from what is described as “the demographic dividend” is strongly in line with President Julius Maada Bio’s New Direction Agenda of not only placing youth issues at the apex, but as what is described as “Security and Development Challenges.”
The team media also said that the summit places young people at the center of conversations that will help the Minister to bring home the relevant policy initiatives that will guide his Mainstreaming Policies for the young people in the country.
The Media Team concluded that the Ministry of Youth Affairs is committed in complementing President Bio`s New Direction Perspective, and will continue to promote youth empowerment in the country, regardless of regional and tribal sentiment, and political attachment.
