ACC Arrests 3 In NASSIT Missing $ 1 Million Probe
An ongoing investigation in an allegedly missing 1 million Dollar of NASSIT funds has led to arrest of the Deputy Director of NASSIT, Mr. Amara Kuyatte and two others.
According to usually reliable Newswatch Newspaper sources, the arrest is in connection with an unaccounted one million United States Dollars that seems to have disappeared into thin air.
Our Investigation reveals that the funds were meant for NASSIT to enter into a Public Private Partnership to build a state-of-the-art hospital for the people of Sierra Leone. The funds were then lodged in an escrow account into one of the Comnercial Banks in the county for the preliminary design and works.
However, our investigation further reveals, the that the One Million USD disappeared from the escrow account without any procurement details on how the funds were used. Also, there is no tangible evidence that work on the project was undertaken for the design and works.
Furthermore, the account holding the funds has Kuyatte as the primary signatory.
Kuyatte is was detained for five days after he was arrested last week but was released on bail on Tuesday 3rd July. Meanwhile Dauda Santigue Kamara, son of the former Adviser to President Koroma, who was also arrested has escaped from the ACC custody while being interrogated by investigators of the anti-graft agency.
